Popularly referred to as DNA, Deoxyribonucleic Acid is the element characterizing every living thing. Alcohol should be added until one obtains a layer of three inches on the split peas solution. Peas are mostly used for this extraction because they are so rich in the molecule. During the process, the detergent is simply used to break down the membrane cell hence releasing the cell content and the meat tenderizer is used to dissolve the membrane nuclear for it to release the DNA inside it. Use of the alcohol in the process is to bring out the DNA strands.
